I was going to say more in this video, but I was out of breath and I was fumbling my words too much. Anyways, this is from the movie Showdown with Audie Murphy. We need a good remaster of this movie. For more information on this I did a blog entry back in September, 2007 over it: http://tinyurl.com/2npza9

Texas, Brooklyn and Heaven deserves a historical footnote as director William Castle's only comedy western. Future Wild Bill Hickok star Guy Madison plays Eddie Taylor, a lonesome cowboy who falls in love with city-gal Perry Dunkin (Diana Lynn). The couple "meets cute" in Brooklyn, where the two have migrated to seek their fortunes. The plot veers into Runyonesque territory as Eddie tries to write the Great American Play, while Perry "adopts" pickpocket Mandy (Florence Bates) to pose as her mother. The loosely structured storyline permits several entertaining diversions, including a trip to Coney Island and a wild episode at a Brooklyn riding academy which hero and heroine have been conned into purchasing. Audie Murphy makes his second film appearance in a near-microscopic role. Based on a Saturday Evening Post story by Barry Benefield, Texas, Brooklyn and Heaven was released in England as The Girl From Texas. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The Plymouth Playhouse that aired on ABC (May 3, 1953)was Part 1 of "The Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens. This episode 4 of "ABC Album" was the London story - 1780. It was a 30 minute dramatization made for early TV. For its time, it was o.k., but the second part that was aired the following week was much better. Wendell Corey played the role of Sydney Carton. Wanda Hendrix, who had been married to Audie Murphy (the WW II hero)in 1949, played the role of Lucie Manette. Her father, Dr. Manette, was played by Murray Matheson. It was the role of Pross, played by Esther Dale, that I liked the best. I remember her role in "The Awful Truth" (1937) as Ralph Bellamy's prude mother from Oklahoma. Carleton Young played the role as Charles Darnay.

On this Memorial Day 2007 I thought I would upload a scene from Audie's autobiographical movie. This also marks the 36th anniversary of his death. Rambo is a myth, but Audie was the real thing. Thanks to all soldiers who have kept my country safe which allows me to live freely.

John McCain has 10 homes, wears $520 dollar shoes, and gets around Arizona in a private plane. That's what I call the American Dream. Obama? You gotta be kidding me. Obama's shoes cost 20 bucks, he always wears the same old tired Wal Mart suit and he gets around Chicago on public transportation... I'm voting 4 McCain because I wanna have 10 houses and feel my feet lovingly caressed by handcrafted Italian shoes at 520 dollars a pop. McCain can sell soup to a soup salesman. Imagine, McCain was a POW, sat out the Vietnam War in a jail cell, no bullets flying, no land mines, no Viet Cong slipping up on him to cut his throat in the misty morning hours, no napalm, no hand grenades, no Tet Offensive, no Khe Sanh Battle, no Search & Destroy combat patrols, nope ... and well, when he got back to America he was just as much a war hero as George Washington, Andrew Jackson, Teddy Roosevelt, Ike Eisenhower, Douglas MacArthur, George Patton, John Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln... McCain did not have to throw his body on a live hand grenade, he didn't have to charge up Pork Chop Hill, he didn't have to capture a general, he didn't attack a machine gun nest a la Audie Murphy...nope, McCain the Hero sat in a jail cell and came back and sold his POW Hero soup story to America.... McCain's new soup story is: "Elect me President and get 10 homes"... McCain 4 America (I got my bowl of McCain Soup and Kool-Aid - get yours too)
