A controversial billboard will likely be popping up in a neighborhood near you, just in time for the holidays. The billboard is paid for by a Colorado atheist group. The message sits against a blue sky backdrop and says, "Don't believe in God? You're not alone." Ten billboards will pepper metro Denver, while one will be put up in Colorado Springs."And we're putting them up in November and December because of the holidays, when church and state issues tend to come up a lot," said Joel Guttormson, with Metro State Atheists. "To let non-believers, free-thinkers and atheists know that they are not alone, especially in a country like ours that is predominantly Christian." Pastor Willard Johnson of Denver's Macedonia Baptist Church called the billboards a desperate effort to discredit Christianity. "The Bible is being fulfilled. It says that in latter days, you have all these kinds of things coming up, trying to disrupt the validity of Christianity," Johnson said. "If they don't believe in God, how do they believe they came about? We denounce what they are doing. But we do it with love, with gentleness, with decency and with compassion." Bob Enyart, a Christian radio host and spokesman for American Right to Life, said it's hard to ignore the evidence. "The Bible says that faith is the evidence of things not seen. Evidence. If we ignore the evidence for gravity or the Creator, that's really dangerous," said Enyart. "Income tax doesn't not exist because somebody doesn't believe in it. And the same is true with our Creator." The billboards will go up Nov. 17. The atheist group, called Colorado Coalition of Reason or COCORE, also wanted to put up signs in Fort Collins and Greeley, but a billboard company there refused to carry the message. Johnson said atheism is a rebellion against Biblical principals and the billboard will likely offend many Christians. COCORE said this is about rights.First Amendment "And I've read the First Amendment up and down and nowhere does it say th

From the 1973 LP: "Let Me Be There" (MCA-389) Written by Bob Dylan From All Music Guide: Two years after the single "If Not for You" hit the Top 25 on the Uni label, the MCA imprint re-released most of the If Not for You album, along with Newton-John's second U.S. hit, "Let Me Be There," and titled the disc after the new smash. With seductive blue ink shadowing her beautiful face and the word Olivia splashed atop the cover, the company created a collector's item with the original LP, a respect from the aficionados that couldn't have been predicted in the '70s, and well-deserved credibility for the popular artist. The first single hit number one on the middle-of-the-road charts, and that market, along with her country base, enabled Newton-John to rack up 26 additional hits, concluding with 1985's "Soul Kiss," the last one almost mirroring her initial success, going Top 20. This collection is a little awkward for the fans who purchased the original hit album, and it gets more confusing: Pye released a 1971 disc, entitled Olivia Newton-John, with most of these tracks, while EMI pressed two different titles in 1974, Crystal Lady and First Impressions, also containing much of this music. Along with the excellent title track, "Let Me Be There," MCA added a cover of John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads," a nice rendition of the Merilee Rush classic, Chip Taylor's "Angel of the Morning," and a convenient country tune, "Just a Little Too Much." Tunes missing on Let Me Be There which appeared on the original If Not for You release are the weak version of David Gate's "If," the Band's "In a Station," a second Lesley Duncan tune, "Lullaby," Tom Rush's "No Regrets," "If I Gotta Leave," and "Where Are You Going to My Love." It's early Newton-John, a bit naïve and far from the sophistication of her Warm and Tender release on Geffen, but it works, especially because it contains her first two hit records. ~ Joe Viglione, All Music Guide

Dave Nachmanoff performs "Not What I Expected" with Liz Bligan and Mike Lindauer. Dave grew up listening to a lot of folk and bluegrass in the DC area, including Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie and Weavers, the Seldom Scene, John Denver, Kingston Trio and more, then through one of his babysitters, heard Simon and Garfunkel and the Beatles, got into Bob Dylan and some of the British folk rock, like Steelye Span and Fairport Convention, but after discovering the Beatles music, went more into rock, including many of the West Coast folk-rock acts like the Eagles, America and Jackson Browne. In the late 70's he got into Al Stewart and never really recovered from that. Other influences in the 80's included some of the 'pub rockers' like Nick Lowe and Graham Parker, and the New Wave bands like the Cars, Elvis Costello and Joe Jackson. Also Bruce Springsteen, who was in inspiration as much for his style of performance as the for the songs. Later in the 80's Dave got into mainstream country for awhile, particularly Mary Chapin Carpenter, and then alt country like Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams and Rodney Crowell. The singer-songwriter boom of the 90's was the time that Dave really started to develop as a songwriter, and of course he was influenced by both the well known artists like David Wilcox, Shawn Colvin and Richard Shindell, and some of his friends and peers who were less well-known, but great writers. More recently Dave has become obsessed with the clever power pop of Fountains of Wayne and some of the other melodic alternative rock bands. For more info on Dave see www.davenach.com. Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Dave Nachmanoff saw Al Stewart live for the first time at Royal Albert Hall in London in 1985 and in 2006 came back and performed with him. At the age of ten he played with Libba Cotton ("Freight Train"). He's led songwriting workshops for German school children, synagogue groups, a Native American tribe, stroke survivors, and for the Silcocks, a family
